Coffee and tea bars are all the rage this year! I actually thought this had been a thing for the last several years, but apparently coffee bar inspiration is hitting a new level of interest.
I decided to jump on the bandwagon and give our coffee bar a refresher….and give some props to tea since I don’t drink coffee (thanks a lot, celiac).
It’s fine, I’m not bitter.
This counter has been a catchall for too long. It’s one of those spaces that was easy to set things on and ignore. But there were football games and cross country meets and half marathons and I honestly didn’t care about this counter space. It was functional and that’s all that mattered, and THAT’S OKAY.
But now it’s January and I have a thousand design ideas and poor Michael can’t even finish the next step on our guest bathroom remodel without me pounding him with another idea for the breakfast room wall, the cutting board wall, the playroom makeover, etc. fire hydrant-style. I think the liver cleanse I’ve been doing is working because my mind is like PEW-PEW-PEW all day long. Ha!
Enter the coffee bar. I have been thinking that some of our premier rentals might need an upgraded coffee/tea bar and the best place to test it out would be at home. So here we go. I started by clearing the counter and adding under cabinet lighting to brighten up the space. These rechargeable strip lights were way more budget friendly than hardwiring similar lights or replacing the fixture in the laundry room.
Next, I ordered everything I needed to create the space and functionality I wanted. I’m really happy with how it all turned out:
What is needed for a coffee/tea bar
There are some obvious basics needed for your coffee bar, such as a coffee maker of some sort, coffee grinder, tea kettle, cups, stir sticks, coffee and tea. But to take your coffee/tea bar to the next level considering adding some or all of the following:
- espresso machine
- jars to store coffee and teas
- flavored syrup
- electric tea kettle
- drawer storage for sugar packets, tea assortment, metal tea balls, espresso machine accessories, etc
- a stand to set syrups on
- honey jar
- lighting for your space (especially if there are upper cabinets that make the space a little dark)
Below are my favorite picks for my coffee and tea bar with links included.
Espresso Machine | Espresso Beans | Espresso Jar | Marble Stand | Syrup Dispensers | Syrups | Coffee Grinder | Stirring Spoons | Electric Tea Kettle | Numi Earl Grey Tea | Round Tea Jar | Straight Tea Jar | Honey Jar | Rechargeable Light Strips
There are so many ways to design a functional and visually appealing coffee and tea bar. It’s pretty easy to add or take things away depending on how much room you have.
What are you favorite items in your coffee and tea bar?
