I know it’s just September and it won’t be fall for a couple of weeks still, but I have to ask you a something: Is your fall decor out yet?
Cooler temps or not, my fall decor is out and I’m not sorry or ashamed to say it. I think fall needs us to let it know we are ready.
I’ve got my sweaters ready to go, my fire pit plans in the works (we still haven’t built one yet), and my scarves are calling to me. My only problem is it’s 1,000 degrees outside (not really, it’s only 90 degrees today).
As I decorated last week, I started brainstorming new ways to decorate for fall this year and I had the idea of using one of my beloved scarves to add a softer touch to the dried leaves and muted tones of my fall decor. I mean, hey! It’s better than indefinitely leaving that scarf in my winter clothes bin.
But seriously, I wanted to share some of those ideas – the good ones – with you! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much more a scarf can do besides keep your neck warm.
5 Surprising Ways to Decorate with a Flannel Scarf
Table cover
Remember my fall decor tutorial for a 10 minute centerpiece? Well, it looks amazing on top of a plaid blanket scarf. Seriously, take a look:
I love how easily the table is transformed. It’s just a scarf! For a more polished look, you can always iron your scarf before laying it out on the table. I don’t iron though…so this is my “casual” take on the table cover. Ha!
Who wouldn’t want to sit at this table with a pumpkin spice latte and chat the day away?!
Garland
Modern wreaths are super popular for the subtle, sophisticated look they give. I like this one because the flannel plaid keeps it from looking too cold and straight lined.
Door decor/Modern Wreath
I was trying to figure out another way to use my scarf on a door without a wreath and I think it dresses up this galvanized tin piece beautifully.
Check it out below:
For a more modern take, use a foam wreath to wrap your scarf around to create a clean lined, but warm fall wreath.
Pillow wrap
A simple decor solution that packs a punch of color without requiring any sewing! We are seriously winning now. Take a look:
I don’t doubt there are even more ways to incorporate a blanket scarf into your fall decor, and why wouldn’t you?! It makes such a warm statement! I can definitely appreciate the versatility here, and the simplicity involved. My biggest problem at this point is figuring out which one of these ideas to stick with (I only have one scarf)…
